Reliable transportation can determine whether someone is able to accept a job, maintain employment, support their household, and access basic necessities.

For individuals without dependable transportation, getting to work can become an everyday challenge. Families may also experience difficulty accessing essential needs such as groceries because transportation is unavailable, unreliable, or unaffordable.

We believe Michigan should continue exploring innovative and sustainable transportation solutions that connect residents with employment opportunities and essential community resources.

PETITION FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION ACCESS IN MICHIGAN

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the Governor of Michigan, members of the Michigan Legislature, and appropriate state agencies to recognize reliable transportation as an important component of workforce participation, economic stability, and community well-being. We ask Michigan leaders to explore sustainable funding opportunities, pilot programs, public-private partnerships, and other innovative transportation strategies that help individuals experiencing transportation barriers maintain access to employment. We further encourage consideration of transportation solutions that can help individuals and families without reliable transportation access essential needs, including groceries. We support continued collaboration among government, employers, community organizations, transportation providers, and other stakeholders to develop affordable and sustainable transportation solutions for Michigan communities.
